"We are in need of a monitoring technique that shows the true efficacy of AF ablation. Many clinical studies, including cardioversion, drug or ablation therapies and different patient populations such as paroxysmal or persistent AF patients, all have demonstrated clearly that symptoms are not a reliable indicator for AF recurrences and may vastly overestimate the efficacy of the therapeutic intervention. Continuous and long term ECG surveillance, using an implantable devices such as pacemakers, ICDs or cardiac monitors ensure high compliance and provides information on both symptomatic and asymptomatic AF."
